<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve esthetic appearance of a completely square headlight. <P>SOLUTION: This automobile headlight is provided with a reflector (2) having a symmetrical axis (XX') on which a perpendicular plane (V1) and a horizontal plane (H1) intersect and having an ellipsoid part, a light source (S) disposed near a first focus of the reflector (2), a circular surface (3) of the reflector (2) which a first light flux (R1, R2, R3, R3') emitted from the light source (S) passes and a refractor (6) disposed in a pupil plane (P) of the reflector (2). The refractor (6) is an effective part (6) of a spherical-surface plano-convex lens (4) having an optical axis which joins the symmetrical axis (XX'), has a focus (F) which joins a second focus of the reflector (2) and a contour (7) which has a center of gravity (B) offset to an optical center (O) of the lens (4). A second light flux (R2, R3') which joins the symmetrical axis (XX') and passes the effective part (6) is the same as the first light flux (R1, R2, R3, R3') of a prescribed ratio. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
