PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color conversion definition generating device, a color conversion definition generating program, a color conversion definition generating program storage medium, and a color conversion definition generating method that can generate color conversion definitions for obtaining an image with natural colors by an output device even when the lightness range of a color representation area of the output device is much narrower than the lightness range of a color representation area of an input device. SOLUTION: The color conversion definition generating device includes an area conversion section 610 which generates a plurality of conversion areas by performing a plurality of kinds of adaptation conversion wherein a gray area of a first color representation area is put close to a gray area of a second color representation area while other areas are driven, and an intermediate area generation section 620 which generates an intermediate area by putting together the first conversion area closest to the chromaticity range of the first color representation area and the second conversion area closest to the lightness range of the second color representation area among the plurality of conversion areas generated by the area conversion section 610.
