PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine degradation of fiber strength due to exposure of light (ultraviolet ray, visible light) without performing a destructive test product by product. SOLUTION: This degradation determining material can determine degradation degree of the fiber due to cumulative exposure of the light (ultraviolet ray, visible light) without performing the destructive test product by product. In this material, the surface of woven fabric or nonwoven fabric made of polyethylene fiber spun by a gel spinning method, aramid fiber, PBO fiber, or polyarylate fiber, or a material wrapping it is coated with material that is used to determine the state of strength reduction of the fibers due to the exposure of the light (ultraviolet ray, visible light) and of which hue depends on the cumulative exposure time of the light (ultraviolet ray, visible light). The degree of degradation can be determined by comparing the hue variation with the hue of a storage sample for determining the degradation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
