PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic acid production method and an organic acid production device where, as the production rate of organic acid is improved, the economization of energy can be attained, and to provide waste water treatment equipment using the same. SOLUTION: As the organic acid production method where sludge is anaerobically fermented, so as to produce organic acid, a method where information about methane generated by the fermentation of the sludge is acquired, and the pH of the sludge during the fermentation is controlled based on the acquired information about the methane is adopted. According to this method, by controlling the pH of the fermentation sludge based on the above information, the balance between the organic acid to be produced and the organic acid changed into methane can be optimized, the production rate of the organic acid can be maximized. Thus, in the control for maximizing the production rate of the organic acid, energy for warming or cooling the sludge is not required. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
