A transmission control method for an auto transmission car is provided to maintain stable shifting sense by deciding a jump-down duty value and executing a jump-down duty process. A judging process is performed to judge a shift decision position of a lock-up clutch control. A determination process is performed to determine the amount of slip and the amount of torque when the shift decision position is judges in the judging process. A jump-down duty decision process is performed to decide a jump-down duty value according to a determined value of the amount of slip and a determined value of the amount of torque. A dump-down operation is performed according to the jump-down duty value.
