A perpendicular magnetic write head having a stud-type trailing shield compatible with a read/write offset is provided to design the stud-type trailing shield for maintaining a critical interval between a trailing shield and a write pole and maintaining a critical interval in a stud-type trailing shield connection structure when a head having read and write elements which are not arranged is designed. A return pole(314), formed with magnetic material, has an end disposed toward an ABS(Air Bearing Surface). A write pole(310), formed with magnetic material, has a surface disposed toward the ABS. The write pole(310) is magnetically connected with the return pole(314). A magnetic pedestal(318) is connected with the return pole(314) in the end of the return pole(314) disposed toward the ABS, and is extended toward the write pole(310). The first and the second magnetic studs(321,322), being horizontally opposite to each other, are extended from an edge of the magnetic pedestal(318) which is nearest to the write pole(310). A trailing magnetic shield is extended between the first and the second studs(321,322), and is magnetically connected with the first and the second studs(321,322). The trailing magnetic shield is separated from the write pole(310) by a non-magnetic gap layer.
