COMPACT SELF-BALLASTED FLUORESCENT LAMP, AND ILLUMINATION DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact self-ballasted fluorescent lamp 11, wherein a cover 13 is down-sized, and nearly the same appearance as that of a common electric bulb for illumination is obtained by efficiently housing a lighting device 17 inside a base 12.

SOLUTION: The base 12 is mounted to one end side of the cover 13 and a light emitting tube 14 is supported at the other end side of the cover 13. An electronic parts 60 constituting a lighting circuit 59 to light the light emitting tube 14 is mounted on a substrate 58 of the lighting device 17. The substrate 58 is formed in the width dimension to be inserted inside the base 12, arranged in the longitudinal form along the direction of the center line of the base 12, and arranged at a position offset against the center line of the base 12. The large-sized electronic parts 60 out of the electronic parts 60 is arranged on a face in which the spacing to the base 12 of the substrate 58 is wide. By efficiently housing the lighting device 17 inside the base 12, the cover 13 is down-sized and nearly the same appearance as that of the common bulb for illumination is obtained.
