PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conversion technology of a color difference interleave format having excellent consistency with internal signal processing of an electronic camera. SOLUTION: The electronic camera photographs an object to generate color image data, and includes a companding section, a block buffer, and a block conversion section. The companding section applies image compression to block sequential data comprising concatenated luminance and color difference blocks to convert the data into compressed data. Further, the companding section applies image expansion to received compressed data to convert the data into block sequential data. The block buffer temporarily stores a plurality of color difference blocks included in the block sequential data. The block conversion section applies number of pixel conversion to the color difference blocks in the block buffer to change the number of the color difference blocks so as to convert the data into block sequential data subjected to different color interleaving processing.
