PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operating point correction method for a focal control loop (12) of a scanner for an optical recording medium (6). SOLUTION: The method includes a step for extracting a signal component produced by perpendicular swaying of the optical recording medium (6) from a focal error signal (FE), a step for integrating the extracted signal component and a step for correcting the operating point using the integrated signal.
