PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cell radiosensitizer that synergistically increases biochemical effect of radiation and yet has no adverse effect such as development of neurotoxicity by accumulation and has high safety since in recent cancer radiotherapy, low-oxygen cancer cells resulting from delay of catching up of blood vessel growth to tumor proliferation exhibits 2-3 times as much as resistance of normal-pressure oxygen cancer cells to radiation to cause reduction in therapeutic ratio and recurrence. SOLUTION: The radiosensitizer comprises an iron compound, in more detail, selected from an inorganic iron compound such as iron chloride, iron oxide, iron hydroxide, iron sulfate, etc., an organic iron compound such as saccharated ferric oxide, iron citrate, iron gluconate, iron acetate, chondroitin sulfate/iron colloid, cideferron, ferrotrenine, iron fumarate, iron pyrophosphate, a porphyrin-iron complex, an albumin incorporating porphyrin-iron complex, etc. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
