A method and an apparatus for polling a transmission state in a wireless communication system are provided to improve overall transmission efficiency and reduce system resources by avoiding unnecessary poles for a receiver through performing a polling process after determining whether a PDU is identified or not. A method for polling a transmission state in a wireless communication system includes the steps of: determining whether at least one packet not to receive an identification response yet at a buffer of a transmission terminal exists when polling is not prohibited by triggering the poles(108); and selecting one packet to poll the receiving terminal and retransmitting the selected packet when the existence of at least one packet is determined(118). |
