<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coordinate input device, capable of detecting a plurality of instruction inputs and accurately calculating position coordinates for the instruction inputs. <P>SOLUTION: For an initial detection signal distribution of detection parts in an initial state having no instruction on a coordinate input area, a signal change range which generated by instructing operation of an instruction means to the coordinate input area is specified. End information of the specified signal change range is detected. Using a plurality of pieces of detected end information, the propriety of detected state in the detection process of the end information is determined.
