<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a private branch exchange that prevents wrong settings by obtaining a communication address for accommodation from the existing equipment, a private exchange system and a terminal registration method. <P>SOLUTION: A communication address request notification for inquiring the IP address of a private branch exchange 2 is broadcasted from an IP telephone set 3a to be newly accommodated. On receiving this communication address request notification, the local branch exchange 2 or IP telephone set 3b broadcasts the IP address of this local branch exchange 2 as a communication address response notification, as long as the IP address of the local branch exchange 2 is already stored in the memory of the local branch exchange 2 or IP telephone set 3b.
