PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication system capable of reducing the erroneous detection rate and detection missing rate of the incoming call of portable terminal equipment, reducing power consumption during the standby of the portable terminal equipment and shortening incoming call waiting time. SOLUTION: The radio communication system is provided with a radio access network 100 for transmitting modulated signals and the portable terminal equipment 150 for receiving the transmitted modulated signals. The radio access network 100 is provided with a PI generation part 101 for generating a PI, an additional PI generation part 102 for generating an additional PI, a multiplexing part 106 for multiplexing the PI and the additional PI, a modulation transmission part 107 for modulating and transmitting multiplexed signals, and an antenna 108. The portable terminal equipment 150 is provided with an antenna 151, a reception demodulation part 152 for receiving and demodulating the transmitted modulated signals, a demultiplexing part 153 for demultiplexing the PI and the additional PI from the modulated signals, and an incoming call judging part 159 for judging the presence/absence of the incoming call from the received PI and additional PI.
