PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce mechanical shocks due to tool correction when operating a machine tool based on table format data. SOLUTION: Positions along X- and Z-axes are stored respectively in X- and Z-axis path tables Tx, Tz in association with a reference position (time or position of a main spindle.) The amounts of correction (tool correction numbers) to the X- and Z-axes are set in a tool correction table Tt in association with the reference position. At predetermined time intervals, X- and Z-path table interpolating parts 4x, 4z read command positions from the X- and Z-axis path tables Tx, Tz for interpolation according to the reference position and determine the amounts of movement commanded. X- and Z-axis tool interpolating parts 7xt, 7zt read the amounts of correction from the tool compensation table Tt for interpolation according to the reference position and determine the amounts of correction commanded. Adders 6x, 6z add the amounts of movement commanded and the amounts of correction commanded to drive motors 5x, 5z. Since corrections are made slowly for the amounts of tool correction, no mechanical shock occurs. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
