PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary damper enabling an increase in yielding. SOLUTION: In this rotary damper, a projected part 8 is formed between the inner surface 6a of a cover 6 to be mounted and the face 7 of the cover 6 facing the inner surface 6a thereof by caulking the end part of a body case 1. When the end part of the body case 1 is caulked, the size of the clearance formed between the inner surface 6a of the cover 6 and the surface 7 of the cover 6 facing the inner surface 6a thereof can be adjusted according to the degree of the collapse of the projected part 8, or the degree of the biting of the projected part 8 into the inner surface 6a of the cover 6 and/or the inner surface 6a of the cover 6.
