LINEAR COMPRESSOR CONTROLLER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a free piston linear compressor controlled to achieve high volume efficiency by a controller. SOLUTION: The controller includes an algorithm 116 for increasing input power (lamp-up) until the collision of a piston with a cylinder head is detected by a detecting algorithm 117/118. When detecting the collision, the detecting algorithm 117/118 decreases the input power accordingly and then the algorithm 116 increases the input power again. Low energy collision which causes no damage is achieved by the controller including a perturbation algorithm 119. The perturbation algorithm 119 perturbs the gradient of the input power with periodically transient power pulses to cause the collision of the piston during the transient power pulses.
