PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately estimate an intake flow in failure of an intake flow meter of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: An intake system of the internal combustion engine has a throttle valve and an air flowmeter for measuring the intake flow with respective intake passages, by making the upstream side reach cylinders with respective cylinders after merging by a downstream side collector by branching off into two intake passages. When any air flowmeter causes failure, a failure side intake flow Q1' or Q2' is estimated by multiplying an intake flow Q2 or Q1 measured by a normal air flowmeter and the cross-sectional area ratio A2/Al or A1/A2 of the two intake passages, and a fuel injection quantity Ti is calculated on the basis of the total intake flow Q by calculating the total intake flow Q by adding the normal intake flow Q2 or Q1 and the estimated failure side intake flow Q1' or Q2'.
