The power steering system includes an electric servo motor in driving connection with the ball race (3-7) which has a ball nut (5) which coaxially surrounds a threaded ball segment (4) of the gear rack (1). The steering column (14) engages with the ball nut through toothing (12,13) which can be a cone wheel gearing with bevel wheel (13) which is connected rotationally secured to the steering column whilst the bevel teeth (12) are on the ball nut. Track rods are mounted rotationally secured at the free ends of the gear rack.
