The system has a housing (1) with an inlet opening (2) for the fluid to be cleaned, and two accommodation units in the interior to accommodate filter units (4). The accommodation units are arranged parallel to one another in the through flow direction. The filter units are axially flow throughable and the cleaning efficiency of the filter system is changeable with same fluid throughput by the variation of the number of the filter units.
