A cellulose ester film which is reduced in the production burden and equipment burden accompanying the drying and recovery of a solvent and has excellent optical properties; a process for producing the film; an optical film; a polarizer employing the optical film as an excellent polarizer-protecting film reduced in retardation unevenness especially in the width direction; and a liquid-crystal display employing the polarizer. The cellulose ester film is characterized by containing at least one compound having a phenol structure and a phosphorous acid ester structure in the molecule.
