The invention relates to the operating safety of man/machine interface systems displaying information in the form of graphics or symbology. The monitoring principles according to prior art are all based on the monitoring of graphic information from the display chain and the verification that said information does correspond to the input parameters. The aim of the invention is to monitor the efficient operation of the functions of the graphic generation, independently of the data processed. More precisely, the invention relates to a device for the graphic generation of symbologies for a display screen, said device comprising functions for generating elements of symbologies and means for monitoring the efficient operation thereof. Said means comprise at least: first means for forbidding the use of certain functions for generating symbology elements; and second means for generating and controlling micro-images for the monitoring of said functions.
