PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure security of a public key about a printer even without depending on a public key infrastructure (PKI).

SOLUTION: This host computer connected to the printer via a communication means is provided with a receiving means for receiving a first encryption key from the printer, a generating means for generating display information to be displayed so that a human being can visually recognize the first encryption key, and a displaying means for displaying the display information.
