PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for manufacturing a solid-state imaging unit by which the production of defectives of the solid-state imaging unit is suppressed to enhance manufacturing yield. SOLUTION: In the apparatus for manufacturing the solid-state imaging unit by fitting and fixing an optical filter 3 to a housing 1 having an imaging element 2, the first inspection of an output image is performed in an incomplete solid-state imaging unit 103, in which the imaging element is electrically fitted to the housing and the optical filter is not bonded to the housing opposite the imaging element. When the solid-state imaging unit 103 is a conforming article, the optical filter is bonded to the optical filter and second inspection of an output image of the solid-state imaging unit is performed.
