PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact expansion device with simple structure to be provided in piping. SOLUTION: The expansion device is composed such that all functional components of a pressure difference control valve and a damper mechanism are positioned in an upstream side of a seal position by an O-ring 4, namely, in an upstream side with a larger inner diameter than a step 2 of the piping 1. The pressure difference control valve is operated in an opening direction when a pressure difference in its fore and aft becomes large, a set pressure difference of starting its valve opening is set by a spring 15, and its set load is adjusted by a press-in amount of a plug 13 into a cylinder 8. By providing a composition of integrally forming a valve element 7 and a piston 9, arranging them in an upstream side of a valve hole 5, and communicating a damper chamber 14 with a downstream side via an orifice 11, a center passage 10, and the valve hole 5, the expansion device can be compactly composed.
