PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly heat-resistant platinum powder which does not cause inconvenience due to remaining alkali; a method for producing the platinum powder without using an inert gas; and a platinum paste suitable for a piezoelectric ceramic material. SOLUTION: The platinum powder includes a powder of an oxide of an elemental metal belonging to families 3 to 15, as an additive; and has a crystallite size sufficiently enlarged to 30 to 100 (nm) by heat treatment. The platinum paste for the piezoelectric ceramic material is produced by dispersing the powder in a vehicle. Thereby, the paste does not cause coagulation even when exposed to a high-temperature atmosphere, because the platinum particles are sufficiently inhibited from being sintered. Because the crystallite size is controlled to 100 (nm) or less, the platinum particles are sufficiently sintered in such an extent as a conductor is surely fixed to the surface on which the conductor is to be formed, and accordingly imparts sufficient electroconductivity to the formed conductor.
