ESTERIFIED STARCH COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a degradable polymer composition from which an article having good dimensional stability and physical characteristics can be molded by heat and pressure. SOLUTION: The composition is obtained from a melt comprising an esterified starch, preferably having at least about 50 wt.% amylose content with respect to the whole content of the starch, and being substituted to a degree of at least about 1.5. The starch ester may be of the kind obtained by reaction of a mixed acid anhydride with starch. The starch ester is preferably a 1-22C ester. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
