The invention relates to a dyeing composition comprising, in a suitable dyeing medium, at least one hydrophobic direct dye with an logP of greater than 2, said suitable medium containing water and at least one propylene glycol derivative having formula R₁(OC₃H₆)_nOR₂ (I)_.The inventive composition can be used to obtain intense colours. In addition, the coloration obtained enables the tenacity of the oxidation coloration to be achieved and even surpassed.
