A clamp (1 ) for coupling mating radially projecting flanges (220), each flange (220) having a coupling surface and a tapered face (225) remote from the coupling surface. The clamp (1 ) comprising at least a pair of component halves (20,21 ), each half comprising a generally U-shaped cross-sectional profile having a base portion and two opposing side limbs projecting from the base portion defining a recess (14) intermediate the side limbs for receiving the mating radially projecting flanges (220) and means for fastening (60,62) the component halves (20,21 ) together. The recesses (14) face each other defining a central aperture therebetween. Each side limb has one or more distinct faces comprising a contact face (2) and a non-contact face (10) and the base portion has a non-contact face (12). The contact faces (2) of the side limbs are remote from the non-contact face (12) of the base portion.
