<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character processing apparatus which changes font data to be assigned, in accordance with parts of speech. <P>SOLUTION: In a character processing apparatus 10, a character string analysis part 24 analyzes parts of speech of words in an inputted character string, and a font data storage part 44 has font data stored therein corresponding to parts of speech, and an assignment part 26 assigns font data to inputted characters in accordance with analyzed parts of speech of words. A plurality of pieces of font data are held per character to constitute the storage part 44.
