<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a print data generation device that can avoid violating Japanese hyphenation even when the image forming apparatus prints plain text data. <P>SOLUTION: After a line end character and a line head character in the printing of text data according to a line feed rule that a line feed is performed when the number of characters from a line head reaches the number of characters calculated in Step S107 are identified (Step S109), whether or not the line end character meets a line end Japanese hyphenation condition is determined (Step S110) and whether or not the line head character meets a line head Japanese hyphenation condition is determined (Step S111).
