DISCHARGE LAMP LIGHTING DEVICE AND LUMINAIRE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device accurately discriminating a type of a lamp by jointly using a plurality of discriminating means. SOLUTION: This discharge lamp lighting device is equipped with: a power inverter circuit to supply power to a high pressure discharge lamp by converting power from an dc power supply; a lighting control circuit to control the power supply of the power inverter circuit; and a discriminating means to discriminate a rated power of the discharge lamp from a plurality of electric characteristics detected by a plurality of detecting means by detecting the electric characteristics of the discharge lamp by the plurality of detecting means. High pressure discharge lamps having a plurality of types of rated power are used as load targets, and any one type among them is connected to the discharge lamp lighting device to light it. The type of the connected discharge lamp is discriminated on the basis of the combination pattern of results discriminated by the plurality of discriminating means. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
