PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating material excellent in film adhesion to a steel material such as a galvanized steel sheet. SOLUTION: The coating material excellent in film adhesion is obtained by mixing a low-molecular-weight polyphenylene ether and optionally a low-molecular-weight polyphenylene ether having a plurality of hydroxyl groups in the molecule with a coating resin such as a polyphenylene-ether-free resin, especially an epoxy resin.
