PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electric double layer capacitor in which capacitance is large and voltage distribution of polarizable electrodes is equal on the positive pole side and the negative pole side. SOLUTION: The electric double layer capacitor has the polarizable electrodes, in which carbonaceous material that expands when a voltage is applied is mixed with conductive material, is provided, wherein the mixing ratio of the conductive material in one polarizable electrode is not equal to the mixing ratio in the other polarizable electrode, and the amount of polarizable electrode in which mixing ratio of the conductive material is higher is larger than that of polarizable electrode in which mixing ratio of the conductive material is lower.
