PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axial-air-gap type electric motor capable of attaining high torque and high power using a reluctance torque. SOLUTION: A plurality of magnet storage sections 34a to 34h are formed in a loop shape at a back yoke 31 of a rotor 3. Moreover, pole magnets 32a to 32h are disposed inside respective magnet storage sections from 32a to 34h and flux barriers 35 in a fixed width Lb are installed so as to surround the circumferences of respective pole magnets 32a to 32h. By making Lb wider than a face-to-face distance La of an air gap between a stator 2 and the rotor 3, flux can be prevented from leaking from ends of the pole magnets 32a to 32h to the back yoke 31.
