PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for obtaining an excellent image without requiring a large-capacity memory even in a constitution, in which positional deviations occur, in an image forming unit. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with the image forming unit for forming an image on a recording medium on the basis of a driving signal. The apparatus is also provided with an image memory for holding image information constituted of pixel information, a storage means for storing correction information regarding correction of the positional deviations, a conversion means, which converts coordinates of a reading-out address of the image memory on the basis of the correction information and reads out the pixel information in turn on the basis of address information after the conversion, a holding means for temporarily holding the read-out pixel information, an acquisition means, which acquires the pixel information with an increased bit width by executing gradation correction of the pixel information read out on the basis of the correction information and the held pixel information, and an output means for outputting the driving signal to the image forming unit on the basis of the acquired pixel information.
