PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein in an EL element using an EL layer made of an auto-emission material film, although an organic material film suitable for flattening is used for a foundation layer, the EL layer is deteriorated and stops emitting light due to a water content transmitting inside of the organic material film since the organic material film has high absorptivity. SOLUTION: In this EL element, the organic material film 10 which is a foundation of the EL layer 12 has a flat part 16 and an inclined surface part 17a connected with around the flat part 16 and each pixel is separated with a signal line 2 and gaps 18a, 18b to suppress transmission of the water content to an adjacent pixel through the organic material film 10.
