PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To aim at the improvement of S/N ratio in a method for detecting hybridization by using an intercalator. SOLUTION: This method for detecting the hybridization is provided by measuring the intensity of fluorescent light from the intercalator I binding with a complementary chain site of a probe nucleic acid P with a target nucleic acid T. In this case, noise fluorescent light is reduced by digestively decomposing a single strand target nucleic acid Ts, a single strand probe nucleic acid Ps without forming the complementary chain and excessive nucleic acid parts T<SB>11</SB>, T<SB>12</SB>of the target nucleic acid T, inducing the generation of the noise fluorescent light because the intercalator I binds with them non-specifically, by an enzyme having nuclease activity such as a nuclease, etc. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
