The fitting has an eccentric unit supporting one fitting part that is connected with a seat part, and another fitting part (3) connected with a backrest and supporting the eccentric unit. A contact cam (34) formed as a single piece with an eccentric ring (12) projects in a space provided between front sides of wedge segments (13). The contact cam serves for load transmission, over a larger contact surface of the cam, from the fitting part (3) to the former fitting part. The contact surface stays in contact with a bearing ring during normal operation.
