The method involves determining a current driving state of the train by detecting one or more of the physical state variables e.g. traction force transferred at the wheel periphery, distance covered, speed and/or time, associating them with one of the movement phases acceleration, persistent travel, run out or braking and computing the specific physical parameters of the train using dynamic travel formula.
