A process for producing the epoxy compound represented by the following formula (2): [Chemical formula 10] (2) characterized by adding an organic solvent solution containing 25-35 wt.% percarboxylic acid to the olefin compound represented by the following formula (1) to epoxidize the compound. [Chemical formula 9] (1) Also provided is a curable epoxy resin composition comprising the epoxy compound obtained by the process and a hardener or hardening catalyst. According to the process for epoxy compound production, the yield and purity are significantly improved and a curable epoxy resin composition excellent in material properties of the cured object can be obtained.
