A rotary type electric component for adjusting illumination is provided to reduce an external volume of the electric component by integrating a holder with a rotary unit. A rotation detection unit is manipulated when a manipulation portion is rotated. An illumination adjusting unit is mounted on the rotation detection unit. The illumination adjusting unit includes a housing(7), a rotary unit(10), and holders(10b,10c,10d). A pair of fixing points are formed on the housing. The rotary unit includes a pair of movable points which are sliding-coupled with the fixed points, and rotatably supported with respect to the housing. The holder supports the illumination adjusting unit whose terminals are connected to the movable points. The illumination adjusting unit is configured to rotate with the rotary unit. The holders are integrated with the rotary unit by using the same material used for the rotary unit.
