Provided are a method for preparing triisobutylmercaptan(TIBM) to improve conversion rate and to enhance production yield by using a zeolite catalyst, and a zeolite catalyst used in the method. The method comprises the step of reacting triisobutylene and hydrogen sulfide by using a zeolite catalyst. Preferably the method comprises the steps of injecting triisobutylene and a dried zeolite catalyst into a reactor; replacing the inside of the reactor with an inert atmosphere and stirring it; injecting hydrogen sulfide into the reactor to react them; and discharging the hydrogen sulfide of the reactor and filtering the obtained product. Preferably the reaction temperature is 10-90 deg.C; the reaction pressure is 1-50 bar; and the ratio of hydrogen sulfide and triisobutylene is 1.2-12 : 1 by mol.
