<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress variation in paste filling and penetration of paste into a paste sheet when filling an electrode plate for wound type lead acid storage battery of long size. <P>SOLUTION: A paste sheet 7 which contacts the electrode plate at filling paste is moistened, thereby, variation in filling is reduced. As a material of the paste sheet, it is changed from the conventional pulp paper to glass fiber, thereby, penetration of the paste into the paste sheet is suppressed.
