<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source capable of further narrowing a line width of light converged by a lens. <P>SOLUTION: The light source 10 is equipped with a semiconductor laser element 11, a lens 12 and an optical fiber 13. In the NFP of a laser beam output from the semiconductor laser element 11, the full width half maximum is greater in the x direction than in the y direction. The lens 12 converges the laser beam output from the semiconductor laser element 11 in the incident end 13A of the optical fiber 13. In this incident end 13A, the intensity distribution of the laser beam converged by the lens 12 has a width greater in the x direction than in the y direction. The optical fiber 13 leads the laser beam entered in the incident end 13A to the exiting end 13B and emits it outside from there. In the xy cross section of the optical fiber 13, the width of the core is maximum in the x direction and minimum in the y direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
