PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of suppressing the sound of a refrigerant in small capacity control. SOLUTION: The air conditioner 100 equipped with a refrigerant circuit including a compressor 10, an outdoor heat exchanger 14, a first indoor expansion valve 5a and a first indoor heat exchanger 3a, is provided with a degassing circuit 20, a degassing circuit opening/closing part 30 and a control part 60. The degassing circuit 20 is a circuit for by-passing the refrigerant circuit to return the refrigerant to the intake side of the compressor 10. The degassing circuit opening/closing part 30 is provided on the degassing circuit 20 to open/close the degassing circuit 20. The control part 60 performing capacity control by the frequency control of the compressor 10 performs capacity control in a small capacity control mode of regulating capacity by lowering the frequency of the compressor 10 until the frequency of the compressor 10 reaches the lowest operation frequency, then opening the opening/closing part 30 in the case of needing to further reduce capacity, and performing the frequency control of the compressor 10 in the open state of the opening/closing part 30.
