PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressor starting method preventing the leakage of refrigerant from a shaft seal device while preventing the occurrence of a trouble with the start of a compressor in the state that an O-ring as part of the shaft seal device is hardened at a low temperature. SOLUTION: The method is provided for starting the compressor 10 with a clutch for transmitting driving force from a driving source to a rotating shaft 13 of the compressor 10 or cutting off the driving force from the driving source. At starting the compressor 10, when the temperature of a housing 11 of the compressor 10 is higher than a preset value, the driving source is started with the clutch 30 linked thereto. When the temperature of the housing 11 of the compressor 10 is not higher than the preset value, the temperature of the housing is increased with the clutch 30 not linked thereto. When the temperature of the housing 11 of the compressor 10 becomes higher than the preset value, the driving source is started with the clutch 30 linked thereto. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
