PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical perspiration meter which measures the amount of perspiration by making a subsheet to absorb a large amount of perspiration moisture evaporated from the skin, irradiating the subsheet with light having a wavelength absorbed by water molecules to make the subsheet to receive the light, and measuring the absorbance difference. SOLUTION: The subsheet 4 absorbs perspiration that appears on the surface of the skin 2 to be measured. A light emitting device 5 emits light having a wavelength absorbed by water molecules to the moisture contained in the sub sheet. A light receiving device 7 then converts reflected light into an electric signal and measures the perspiration amount evaporated from the skin 2. The perspiration meter further has a control system for supplying an output from a D.C. conversion circuit 13 to an air pump driving circuit 18 and for driving an air pump 11. With such a configuration, the water content of the subsheet 4 is kept constant and a large amount of perspiration is measured with high responsiveness. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
