<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To totally cover a front pillar by an airbag, in a curtain airbag device which covers a window section on the side of an automobile. <P>SOLUTION: The airbag 1 which is folded into a thin and long shape is arranged on a roof side section 5 of a vehicle. The intermediate position of the folded airbag 1 is covered with a head lining. A section along the front pillar 11 of the front end section of the folded airbag 1 is housed in a housing section 55 of a first pillar garnish 21, and covered by a door section 42. When the airbag 1 develops, the intermediate position of the airbag 1 develops downward along the window section 8 by pushing to open the head lining. At a section along the front pillar 11, the airbag 1 develops to the passenger side from the housing section 55, and in addition, develops downward by being pulled by the other developing sections.
