IMAGING APPARATUS AND IMAGING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a good image of high contrast regardless of a brightness difference even if using an imaging element for which a linear conversion mode and a logarithmic conversion mode are switched based on an incident light quantity.

SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus 1 comprises an imaging element 2 comprising a plurality of pixels G11-Gmnfor which linear conversion operation for linear-converting incident light into electric signal and logarithmic conversion operation for converting logarithmically are switched based on the quantity of incident light, and a control unit 46 for controlling the imaging element 2. The control unit 46 classifies the pixels G11-Gmninto two kinds of pixel groups, and sets a point of inflection Q which is the boundary between the linear conversion operation and the logarithmic conversion operation depending on pixel groups.
